Medical aspirants who appeared for the FMGE exam can now check their result status — including pass, fail, absent, and withheld — as published by NBEMS. The FMGE is a mandatory screening test for Indian and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have obtained their medical degrees from foreign medical institutions and seek to practice medicine in India.

The FMGE December 2025 result reveals that 10,264 candidates successfully cleared the examination, translating to a passing percentage of 23.36%, while 32,604 candidates did not qualify. Additionally, 1,061 candidates were marked absent, and the result for 4 candidates has been withheld for further review.

FMGE 2026: What This Result Means for Medical Graduates

The FMGE is conducted by NBEMS to ensure that foreign-trained doctors meet the medical standards required to practice in India. To qualify, candidates must score at least 150 marks out of 300 (50%) and meet eligibility requirements set by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

This year’s result reflects a competitive examination, where less than a quarter of candidates were able to meet the qualifying criteria. The lower passing percentage highlights the need for rigorous preparation in both clinical and basic medical subjects.

Breakdown of Key Result Figures

Passed Candidates (10,264): These candidates have met the qualifying criteria and can proceed with obtaining FMGE pass certificates and apply for medical registration in India.

Failed Candidates (32,604): The majority of examinees could not score the minimum required marks and will need to reappear in the next session after further preparation.

Absent Candidates (1,061): These candidates did not appear for the December 2025 session despite registration.

Withheld Results (4): A small number of results have been temporarily withheld by NBEMS pending verification
