The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially started the registration process for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session. Candidates aspiring to practice medicine in India and holding primary medical qualifications from foreign institutions can now apply online through the official NBEMS portal.
What is FMGE?
FMGE is a mandatory screening test for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their medical education abroad and wish to obtain provisional or permanent registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or respective State Medical Councils in India. Clearing this examination is a prerequisite for legal medical practice in India for foreign medical graduates

- Registration Start: 14 November 2025 (from 3:00 PM onwards)
- Last Date to Apply: 4 December 2025 (up to 11:55 PM)
- Exam Date: 17 January 2026
- Result Declaration: On or before 17 February 2026
How to Apply for FMGE December 2025
Applicants must follow these steps to register successfully:
- Visit the official NBEMS website and navigate to the FMGE December 2025 section.
- Click on “New Registration” to create a login account.
- Complete the application form by entering personal and academic details accurately.
- Upload necessary documents, including a recent passport-sized photograph, signature, and certificates of the primary medical qualification.
- Pay the application fee online through the stipulated modes.
- Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must possess a recognized medical degree from a foreign medical institute.
- The degree certificates should be attested or apostilled in accordance with NBEMS guidelines.
- Only those who qualify for FMGE can proceed to obtain registration with the NMC or State Medical Councils.
